Hinugot sa Langit (lit. "Wrenched from Heaven"[5]) is a 1985 Gawad Urian Award winning Filipino melodramatic film directed by Ishmael Bernal based on moral values. It is considered a classic in Filipino cinema and picked up four Gawad Urian Awards. It is about a young woman with an unwanted pregnancy that considers abortion.[6] The film tackles issues about abortion, sexuality and the Philippine Catholic society.[5]

Plot

A young woman named Carmen Castro (Maricel Soriano) had an affair with a married man named Gerry (Al Tantay). Gerry, prefers Carmen to have the baby aborted. She confides to Stella (Amy Austria) who tells her to control her own destiny.[7]

Soundtrack and cinematography

The film won Gawad Urian Awards for Best Direction, Best Editing (Jess Navarro),[4] Best Production Design and Best Sound in 1986.
